Amy McCready (who describes herself as “recovering yeller”) is the Founder of Positive Parenting Solutions and creator of the 7-Step Parenting Success System® online training program.
She is the author of two best-selling parenting books — If I Have to Tell You ONE MORE TIME and The “Me, Me, Me” Epidemic.
Amy has been a TODAY Show contributor for more than 14 years and has been featured on The Doctors, CBS This Morning, CNN, Fox & Friends, MSNBC, Steve Harvey, Rachel Ray, and many others.
However, long before Amy became an internationally recognized authority on positive parenting, her day-in, day-out life as a mom with her two young boys was anything but Instagram-worthy.
Her kids were the center of her world, but even so, she would practically lose her voice nearly every day from yelling. She never imagined she would turn into that mom – you know, the one who yells All. The. Time.
Each day the pattern would repeat itself like clockwork:
She’d use her nicest voice and ask her kids to do something. Nothing would happen. So she’d repeat herself. And remind them. And repeat and remind and repeat and remind …
Until, it happened. She’d blow up, lose her temper and turn into The Big Ugly Yelling Mom AGAIN.
Totally defeated and incredibly disappointed in herself, Amy knew she had to find a way out of this cycle.
Her desperate realization, that she might actually be failing at her most important job ignited a fire to solve these power struggles once and for all.
After years of research on positive parenting and becoming certified in Positive Discipline, Amy wanted to make sure that other parents never felt as lost, hopeless, and desperate as she did.
Using her instructional design expertise as a trainer for Fortune 500 companies, Amy created a user-friendly curriculum that delivered quick results for parents. The Positive Parenting Solutions course was born in 2004 and she has been updating and perfecting the tools and strategies ever since.
Since 2009, Amy has served more than 266,00 families on 6 continents in her 7-Step Parenting Success System® course and her free online class: Get Kids to Listen without Nagging, Yelling or Losing Control.
When Amy is not working, you can find her with her adult children, enjoying a Broadway show, or doing more binging than she should of her favorite streaming shows. She loves to travel with her husband and business partner, Dave, and volunteers her time teaching parenting classes at her local church.
